A serious four-car accident shut down the intersection of Parker and Chambers Streets early Monday morning around 5:20 a.m., said Josh Lewis, information officer for the Colorado State Patrol.
A Ford pickup truck driven by a 32-year-old man was heading north and nearing a red light after an initial investigation by the Colorado State Patrol. The other three cars, a Mercedes SUV, a Mercury sedan, and a Nissan, turned left. The Ford hit all three cars.
The Ford driver was taken into custody, but no drug or alcohol use was suspected, Lewis said.
The Nissan driver, 54, was rushed to hospital and pronounced dead. The 47-year-old Mercedes driver was also taken to hospital after moderate injuries. The 36-year-old driver of the Mercury sedan suffered minor injuries but was not hospitalized.
It was not immediately known what caused the wreck.
