Arrested in reference to two aurora explosions

Police arrested an Aurora man on Friday evening who they believe was behind the recent detonation of two explosive devices in southeast Aurora.

Scott Alan Campbell has been arrested on investigations into attempted first degree murder, first degree arson and possession of a gun by a previous perpetrator, Aurora police said Saturday.

Campbell is being held at the Aurora Detention Center on $ 1 million bail.

The first explosion occurred around 5:30 a.m. on Christmas Day on the 18000 block of East Mansfield Avenue and damaged two homes, investigators said.

The second occurred on January 7th at 4:45 am on the 4600 block of South Pagosa Circle. An officer who responded to a report of gunfire in the area “found a detonated device”. One house was damaged.

No one was injured in either explosion, the police said.

The case was investigated in coordination with various local and federal agencies, including the Federal Office for Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
