The Hobb building will be converted into apartments, restaurants and retail.

An old building in AuroraThe city center is getting a new life.

The Hobb building has been vacant for almost 40 years and is 128 years old.

On Sunday, Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin and the developers brandished ceremonial sledgehammers to mark the start of rehab.

It will be converted into a multiplex with 31 apartments, retail shops and restaurants. The iconic onion dome, which was removed five years ago, is also being restored.
