Aurora has announced that she will celebrate the sixth anniversary of her groundbreaking single “Runaway” with a new EP and a new livestream.
Taken by the Norwegian singer-songwriter The acclaimed debut album All My Demons from 2016, which greeted me as a friend, “Runaway” garnered over 100 million streams on Spotify alone.
Today, February 4th, Aurora will release “For Those Who Take Long Walks in the Woods,” the first in a series of curated EPs from their catalog to celebrate the sixth year of Runaway.
The singer has also announced that she will play a live stream on her official YouTube channel same day at 8 p.m. GMT.
Billie Eilish previously hailed Aurora as an early inspiration of hers, particularly as “Runaway”.
“I watched Aurora’s ‘Runaway’ music video when I was 12,” Eilish told Vanity Fair. “Something inside of me clicked the way I want to do it, whether it goes somewhere or not.”
In response to Eilish’s praise, Aurora told NME in 2019, “I think the world needs more artists who just do what they want. She uses her voice so cool. I’m also a big fan of her brother Finneas O’Connell and the way he produces lo-fi percussion.
“I’ll listen to her more because she has to do something right. The world seems to love her right now because she’s really cool. ”
Back in October last year, Aurora became the youngest artist to join the Clean Sounds initiative, where artists perform surprise sets for volunteers that clean up plastic and other debris in natural environments.
In a video shared on October 18, Aurora was seen singing her 2016 single, “Warrior” in front of a group of people who spent the day tending to the coast of their home country, Norway.
Aurora’s new EP “For the people who take long walks in the woods” contains the following tracks:
“Little boy in the grass”
“Running with the Wolves”
