AURORA, IL – The city of Aurora is hosting a Thanksgiving giveaway for thousands of families on Saturday to help them have a great vacation despite the coronavirus pandemic.
The city’s sixth pop-up pantry will be the largest to date, serving meals for 2,500 families.
“Food insecurity continues to be a major challenge for our families,” said Aurora Mayor Richard C. Irvin. “As the holiday season approaches, we want to make sure families not only have food on the table, but can also rebuild a sense of normality when they gather together in a safe and limited way on Thanksgiving.”
The families who received pre-registered meals online and whose capacity was reached in less than 24 hours.
