Broken Bow’s State Track Qualification. lr MaKinley Tobey, Kya Scott, Daine Wardyn, Qwentin Coble and Kailyn Scott
Broken Bow was among the teams competing in the B-5 District Athletics Championships in Aurora on Thursday. Broken Bow’s Qwentin Coble qualified for the state championship in three competitions next week in Omaha, finishing in the top three in both the boys’ long jump, triple jump and 200m. Coble qualified for the state in the long jump, finishing third with a performance of 20 ‘5.75’ ‘. In the triple jump he qualified for the state and finished third with an effort of 41 ‘9’ ‘. Coble then finished third in the 200 to qualify for the state in 22.98 seconds. Kya Scott qualified for the state in the girls’ high jump. Scott made the automatic qualifying level of 5’1 ” and finished third overall. Scott won the medal in the girls’ top 6 and finished 5th with a performance of 32 ’10 ”. Broken Bow’s Kailyn Scott qualified for the state in the girls’ 400 yards. Scott finished third to qualify with a time of 1: 02.55. MaKinley Tobey qualified for the state in the girls’ 3200 meter run and finished 2nd in a time of 12: 20.75. Daine Wardyn qualified by state time in the Boys 3200. Wardyn finished fifth in the district, but his time of 10: 23.75 was one of the next six fastest times of the non-qualifiers sending him to the state meeting in Omaha. Brody Ridder won the medal in the top 6 of the boys ‘pole vault, finishing 4th in 12′. Kali Staples won 5th overall in the girls’ mile in a time of 5: 40.84. Anna Lindstrom won 6th place in the girls 400 in a time of 1: 03.15. Zane Eggleston won 6th place in the boys’ 300 meter hurdles in a time of 42.98 seconds.
