Surprise! Brother Vellies comes out with sneakers. It seems like designer Aurora James took everyone’s messages to heart by taking a quick look at her Instagram stories. The brand was founded in 2013 with the aim of keeping traditional African design practices and techniques alive while at the same time creating and maintaining craft jobs.
Last year, Aurora also launched the 15 percent pledge, which has been hugely popular with retailers. In case you’re not aware, the initiative has asked larger companies like Net-a-Porter, Sephora, and Saks Fifth Avenue (to name a few) to sit down at the board and make a change. She asked large companies to commit to buying 15 percent of their products from black designers.
While we don’t know much about the release date or price of these new sneakers, we are sure that the shoes will sell out quickly. Come back here for more information as we will update this post with more details as soon as we receive them. In the meantime, shop for some of Brother Vellies’ famous boots to unwind.
