Column: The Aurora attorney’s new memoir provides a glimpse into the Jeanine Nicarico case, one of the most famous homicides in state history

The extra time and effort seems to have paid off. The book, published by State Street Publishing of Elgin, is a well-written, well-researched treatise on Johnson’s four decades as a prosecutor and criminal defense attorney in Kane County. Not surprisingly, nearly 80% of the pages are devoted to “the true story of a trial attorney’s experience defending an innocent man charged with murder,” which happens to be the book’s subtitle.
