Today Dell announced some product updates, particularly for its Alienware Aurora gaming desktop PC and its XPS desktop. Both are now available with Intel’s newly announced 11th generation processors called the Rocket Lake-S.
The 14nm processors are fairly new, including a new core architecture and faster integrated graphics, although both products should ship with dedicated GPUs. Rocket Lake-S promises a 19% increase in instructions per clock cycle from the start. The processor also supports PCIe 4.0, faster DDR4-3200 memory, and more, although Dell hasn’t indicated whether these things are included in the Alienware Aurora R12 or XPS Desktop.
Both are available with up to the Core i9-11900K, which has eight cores, a base clock rate of 3.5 GHz and a boost clock rate of 5.3 GHz. Of course, you can also have one configured with Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3000 graphics, along with the other common configuration options that every PC comes with.
