Man dies in a single automobile accident in Aurora Thursday – The Denver Put up

A driver was killed in a single vehicle accident in Aurora on Thursday. According to Aurora Police, the crash occurred on South Peoria Street near South Parker Road and police responded around 9:45 p.m.

A Lexus SUV was heading north on South Parker Road when it turned right on South Peoria Street. The driver, a grown man, lost control of the vehicle and hit a power pole. The man, who was the sole occupant of the SUV, was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver’s identity will later be released by the Arapahoe County’s coroner office after positive identification and notification of next of kin, police said in a press release on Friday.

Investigators used testimony and physical evidence at the scene of the accident to determine that the SUV was traveling at high speed. The traffic unit investigators will attempt to reconstruct the scene to determine the speed and other factors of the crash.

UPDATE: This crash resulted in death. The lane remains closed at this point.
