Meals Pantry Director “Past Every part”: Aurora Hero

AURORA, IL – Heroes emerge during difficult times. We all know someone who is making a difference as we go through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we started an initiative to identify these heroes who are making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we are working to inform all of your neighbors about these outstanding people and their stories.

This submission is from Cathy Ferrel, who nominated Diane Renner, director of the Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry in Aurora. Ferrel worked with Renner in the pantry for eight years.

Hero job: Manager of the Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry

Relationship to the candidate: I worked with her for 8 years.

Reason for recognition: Diane is doing everything she can to feed the unsafe food in Fox Valley, especially during the pandemic. Never closed for a day, treated normal numbers 3-4 times and helped keep all volunteers safe.

One thing to know: For every dollar donated to the pantry, 97% goes on the shelves – very little cost as Diane is closely monitoring the donor’s dollar.
