AURORA – The Aurora Police Department chief has identified an off duty officer who was killed in a car accident over the weekend.

Chief Vanessa Wilson said in a tweet Monday night that 25-year-old Mikaela M. Lakin was hit and killed in an accident on S. Aurora Parkway and E. Arapahoe Road on Friday night while on duty.

A post on the Aurora Police Department blog states that Lakin was riding a motorcycle east on E. Arapahoe Road when a Honda pilot driver turned left off E. Arapahoe Road and Lakin was driving the Was right, didn’t give in -way, caused the crash. Lakin died on the scene.
