Passenger who was thrown from a van in the crash of the Aurora I-70 dies at the scene

A woman died Monday in an accident involving a single vehicle on Interstate 70 in Aurora, police said.

The crash occurred around 4:20 a.m. when the driver of a Ford pickup truck heading west lost control at the exit of Interstate 225 heading south, according to a press release.

The woman who died on the scene was thrown from the truck, police said. A man, also a passenger, was rushed to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Police said speed could have been a factor in the crash. An investigation is still ongoing.
