Pedestrians seriously injured after an accident in Aurora

AURORA, Colorado. – Aurora police are investigating an accident in which a pedestrian was seriously injured Thursday morning.

Aurora Police Department said the crash, which involved a white four-door sedan, happened around 5:32 a.m. on E. Colfax Avenue near Billings Street.

The driver fled the scene north on Interstate 225, police said. At 7:35 a.m., Aurora police announced that the driver and vehicle had been found.

Police said the crash did not involve an RTD bus, although one was near the scene.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area as the police continue their investigation. Westbound Colfax is closed in Billings and is scheduled to reopen around 7:45 a.m.
